Min: Russia to boost Sputnik V vaccine output to 30 mln doses ‘Jun

MOSCOW, Dec 24 (PRIME) -- Russia will boost production of the Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus to 30 million doses per month by June or earlier, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told RBC TV channel on Thursday.

“If we talk about production, more than 2.5 million doses will be produced in December, a little less for civilian circulation. But in January, according to the plans adjusted in November and laid out by the enterprises, this is 3.5 (million), then it rises to 18 (million) by April and to 30 (million) by June. But I am optimitic that this can happen even faster,” Manturov said.

The price of the vaccine for the domestic market will decrease as its production is scaled up, he said.

“So far, the price for three months, which has been approved, is 1,942 rubles, but this has been done so that we can start quickly. As we scale (production), the price will also be lower for the domestic market,” Manturov said.

A new, powdered form of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus will appear in 2021, he also said.
